The two labourers, both from Baduan in Uttar Pradesh, were working in a 15-feet deep trench, for laying drinking water pipeline in Devi Nagar village, when a heap of mud caved in, police said.
As the two labourers were trapped under the debris, the other labourers raised an alarm. It took almost two hours for the rescue team to bring out the two trapped labourers, who were then rushed to hospital where they were declared brought dead.
The labourers have blamed the contractor for the mishap alleging that no safety measures were adopted before conducting the risky job.
Police said that the matter was being investigated and a case would be registered after an inquiry. PTI COR SUN PMS
