The situation in the state was disturbing as the two patients identified today in Mizoram-Assam border Kolasib district claimed that they never ventured outside the state, the statement issued by Health department here said.
"It has become extremely difficult to gauge the extent of the spread of H1N1 in the state due to the fact that the two patients seem to have been infected inside the state," the it said.
An emergent meeting held at the office of the state Health minister Lal Thanzara today discussed the situation where Principal Director of the state Health and family welfare department said that out of ten samples sent to the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases (NICED), Kolkata, four were found to be positive.
The meeting also discussed the need for improvement of isolation ward at the referral hospital in Falkawn near Aizawl and also establishment of ICU for serious swine flu patients, the statement said.
The statement said that two patients, one of them from Delhi coming to work for a brief period in Mizoram and another one a local person, were recuperating at the Falkawn Referral Hospital while another patient was being treated at home.
