Two persons die in a bid to rescue women from drowning

Two persons today died while trying to save a woman who attempted suicide by jumping into a well in Odisha's Balasore district today.
Damodar Khilar (35) and his neighbour Niranjan Khilar (32) leaped into the well near their residence at Bandhasahi village in Soro area soon after Damodar's wife jumped into it in a bid to commit suicide, police said.
While the woman was rescued, her husband and neighbour could not be saved as the rope, which was used to pull them out, snapped midway. Both the men drowned, they said.
Another person who was pulling the rope also fell into the well but was rescued by the villagers and rushed to a hospital.
