Two shot dead in separate incidents in Kanpur

Two persons were shot dead allegedly by unidentified bike-borne assailants in separate incidents here leading to tension in the city, police said today.
The first incident took place last night at a pan shop at Parade crossing where scrap trader Aqeel Qureshi (40) was sitting. He was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants, a police spokesperson said.
Two passers-by identified as Amit Gupta (35) and Saurabh (22) were also injured in the firing and were later admitted to a hospital. Qureshi's body has been sent for post-mortem, the spokesperson said.
The deceased's father has registered a complaint against half a dozen people in connection with the death, police said, adding, trade-related enmity is believed to be the reason behind the murder.
The second murder took place around midnight when Furkaan (22), who was get to get married today, was returning home on a scooty and he was shot dead at a point-blank range, police said.
His father has registered an FIR against three people in the case with an old enmity suspected to be the reason behind the killing, police said.
Police has taken seven poeple into custody in connection with the two murders and is interrogating them. Police force has been deployed in the sensitive areas to avoid any untoward incident, they said.
