A police party of Jajjar Kotli checked vehicles at Suketar on the highway and stopped one car being driven by Sonu Singh of Amritsar along with co-passenger Sunny of Jalandhar yesterday, a police officer said today.
Upon search of the vehicle, the police party recovered 31 kg of poppy, which they were carrying illegally from Srinagar to Punjab, he said.
Both the accused have been arrested and poppy straw seized, he said, adding that a case has been registered and further investigation is on.
