Tytler urges Delhi Speaker to expunge remarks on 1984 riots
Press Trust of India New Delhi Congress leader Jagdish Tytler has written to the Delhi Assembly Speaker urging him to "expunge" remarks made against him during a discussion on 1984 anti-Sikh riots, saying the House had "exceeded" its brief.
In a letter to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, Tytler claimed that names of "witnesses" mentioned during the discussion are of "doubtful integrity" and they are "proclaimed offenders".
"The personal reference against a person who is neither present during the said discussions nor a member of the Assembly is also against the conduct Rules of the Legislative Assembly of NCT of Delhi," the letter said.
The Assembly had on June 30 last year passed a resolution seeking justice to the victims of the riots and action against Tytler for allegedly influencing a witness in a case relating to it.
