The meeting was held as a sequel of steps being taken to streamline available sporting infrastructure for the U-17 World Cup, Chief Minister's Office said.
Sonowal asked the departments concerned to prepare the main venue Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium and four other practice venues before the FIFA delegation visits them on October 24.
Stadia of Kochi, Goa, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati and New Delhi have been preliminary selected for the mega event likely to be held in September-October in 2017 featuring 24 countries.
He also asked the officials to put in place a full proof security system, state-of-the-art health care facilities for the foreign players and showcase Guwahati as a tourist destination.
Sonowal also asked officials to upgrade and renovate players' dressing room, media centre, VIP lounge, FIFA Office, players tunnel, etc, the statement said.
