Irish rockers U2 unveiled the official cover art of new album, 'Songs of Innocence'.
The band took to its official website to share the black-and-white image featuring U2's drummer Larry Mullen Jr embracing his 18-year-old son, reported Aceshowbiz.
The picture was taken by Glen Luchford. The rockers explained the artwork in a message posted on the site, saying it was inspired by the covers for 1979's 'Boy' and 1983's 'War' both of which have the face of a child.
"The visuals reflect the new songs and their inspiration in the early years of U2 as teenagers in Dublin," they wrote.
"The idea of the unique relationship between a parent and child, the image of a father and son, came from the band. The shoot with Larry and his son was initially an experiment but everyone loved it as a visual metaphor for the record," they added.
U2 frontman Bono said 'Songs Of Innocence' is the band's most intimate and raw album ever.
"We've always been about community in U2, about family and friends. 'Songs Of Innocence' is the most intimate album we've ever made. With this record we were looking for the raw, naked and personal, to strip everything back," he said.
'Songs of Innocence' will remain free on iTunes until it's officially released on October 13. It will come in a two-CD deluxe edition, a single-CD standard edition and a two-LP 180-gram white vinyl.
