The two-member UGC fact finding team which had come here today left after talking to the three accused students though they failed to talk to the girl who was allegedly molested by the three.
The two-member UGC team comprising UGC joint secretary Ratnabali Banerjee and vice-chancellor of Tezpur university, Mihir Kanti Chaudhuri today went to the Bolpur sub-divisional correctional home and talked to the three accused students lodged there.
An official of the correctional home said, "They (UGC team) were granted one and half hours for interrogation by the Bolpur court."
The UGC team had yesterday gone to Burdwan to talk to the girl student, who is undergoing treatment at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH) but her father did not allow refused them to meet his daughter saying, "I did not allow them to meet my daughter as she is tired and mentally upset repeating her ordeal time and again to various people."
The girl's father even claimed that they (UGC team) then threatened him saying he would be in trouble for this (not allowing them to meet her).
The girl had lodged a complaint to the university authorities last week that three students of her department and an outsider had sexually harassed her and clicked photos with their mobiles and threatened her to blackmail with those.
The three students, two from the second year and one from third year, were later arrested and are now under judicial custody. The outsider is yet to be arrested.
Yesterday the father of the girl had said he wants to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to seek justice for his daughter.
The girl's father had said he would like to meet the Chief Minister as he did not have faith in the Visva-Bharati authorities or the officials of UGC.
