Hitting back at Congress for taking a jibe at HRD Minister Smriti Irani's educational qualification, Union Minister Uma Bharti today questioned the educational qualification of its party president Sonia Gandhi.

"I want to ask Sonia Gandhi what is her qualification because she was heading the UPA Government, she was giving directions to the Government. I want to see her certificate how much she is qualified. Then Congress people have the right to ask the qualifications of Smriti Irani," she said.

Bharti was speaking to reporters after taking over as the as the Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation here.

The Minister's comments comes a day after Congress took pot-shots at the new government, saying its HRD Minister Irani was "not even a graduate".

Bharti said she was "extremely hurt" by the qualification remarks of Congress.

"I was extremely hurt... I was suffering from fever yesterday. So, I read newspaper today and I saw that," the Minister stated.

Congress leader Ajay Maken had tweeted yesterday: "What a Cabinet of Modi? HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate! Look at her affidavit at ECI".
