Apart from Sarkar, his personal assistant Fakruddin and his driver Prasad died in the mishap.
The VC and others were heading for Kurnool to take part in an NSS programme when a speeding lorry rammed the car at Pamidi this afternoon.
While Sarkar and the driver Prasad were killed on the spot, Fakruddin succumbed in the hospital, police said.
Governor E S L Narasimhan expressed grief over Sarkar's death.
State HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Information Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy and Pradesh Congress president N Raghuveera Reddy also condoled the tragic death of the VC.
