The UoH today said it has issued orders rusticating the student, Kaluram Palsania, with immediate effect.
"The Proctorial Board of the University found Palsania guilty of posting a public message on social media abusing and questioning the credentials of Prof K Laxminarayana of the Department of Economics," a release from the university said.
The board also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on the student.
The university reiterated that it has zero-tolerance for physical or verbal abuse of any member of the university community in the course of discharging their duties.
"We fully expect all interactions among various sections of the university community to be conducted with mutual respect, dignity and decorum," the UoH release said.
The university has appealed to all sections of the campus community to seek redressal of any genuine grievances only through appropriate institutional channels provided for the purpose.
The professor had complained to Vice-Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile in this connection and, after eliciting the opinion of the Dean of the School, the VC referred it to the university's proctorial board, the authorised disciplinary body.
