UP: 11 cows killed after truck overturns, mob goes on rampage

A mob of villagers today torched a truck and damaged police vehicles after 11 cows were killed and 12 injured when the truck, which was carrying the bovines, overturned in Uttar area here, police said.
The incident took place this morning when the truck which was coming from Agra overturned, Uttar Police Station Inspector Shashikant Sharma said.
The infuriated mob then set the truck ablaze and damaged two police four-wheelers. The driver and other occupants of the truck managed to flee from the spot, Sharma said.
It is suspected that they may have been cattle smugglers, he said, adding, police is probing the matter.
