While polling for Lucknow was held today, the second round would cover Saharanpur, Meerut, Moradabad, Badaun, Mahamaya Nagar, Firozabad, Etawah, Farukkhabad, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, CSM Nagar, Gonda, Basti, Deoria, Ballia and Varanasi, state election commission sources said.
In the second round, more than 88.55 lakh electorates would practise their franchise at 9,693 stations in 2,896 centres.
As part of security arrangements, 90 companies of PAC and more than 32,000 constables have been deployed.
The second round of the first phase would decide the fate of 1,521 candidates for the posts of mayor and chairman of municipal corporations, nagar palikas and nagar panchayats and 12,985 candidates for the posts of corporators.
Polling in Lucknow was preponed from June 24 due to various competitive examinations while the notification for local body polls was issued on May 25.
