"Khandal's resignation has been accepted by the Governor, who has nominated the vice-chancellor of Madan Mohan Malviya University, Prof Onkar Singh as the acting in-charge," a Raj Bhawan spokesperson said.
Khandal had tendered his resignation to Governor Naik, in January this year, citing personal reasons, he said.
The spokesperson said that the nomination of Prof Singh would be for a period of six months or till the appointment of a new vice-chancellor, which ever is earlier.
He said the governor has directed to form a search committee to appoint a full time VC.
