In order to provide immediate help to passengers, Uttar Pradesh police today launched a new helpline number to check crimes in trains across the state.
Director General of Police A K Jain said that any passenger can reach the police by dialling '1512' within the limits of the state.
He said that after dialling the number, the passenger would get in touch with the Government Railway Police control room at Lucknow and arrangements have been made to lodge a complaint or file an FIR.
Jain said that the complaint would be forwarded to the nearest GRP station and action taken would be monitored.
