Police said the girl was studying in 10th standard and lived in Shanti Vihar area here. She was was not attending school since the past few days, following which her father scolded her.
Distressed over her father's reaction, the girl locked herself in her room and allegedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling, Civil Lines SHO Anirudh Kumar said.
A case has been registered under CrPC section 174 (unnatural death) and investigation is underway. The body was handed over to the family members after postmortem, he said.
