The US has strongly condemned a car bomb attack on a police headquarters in Egypt that killed 15 people and wounded about 150 others.
"The US condemns in the strongest possible terms today's terrorist attack on the Dakaliya security directorate in Mansoura," State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said yesterday.
At least 15 people were killed and about a hundred and fifty others injured yesterday when the powerful car bomb ripped through the multi-storey police headquarters in Mansoura, a city in Nile delta north of Cairo.
"We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and we hope for the quick recovery of the injured," Psaki said.
The US stands firmly with the Egyptian people as they work to put their country on the path towards democracy, stability and economic prosperity, in an atmosphere free from violence, she said.
Hours after the bombing, Egypt's interim prime minister Hazem Beblawi labelled the Muslim Brotherhood as a "terrorist" group, accusing them of orchestrating the attack.
