Shavonna Rumph and her boyfriend had been drinking at their residence in Manatee, Florida last week.
The couple got into an argument when the man refused to "cuddle" with Rumph when they went to bed.
The fight turned physical when Rumph grabbed the man's shirt, causing it to tear, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
The man also tried to leave the apartment, the 'Bradenton Herald' reported.
"At one point during the argument Shavonna had picked up a kitchen knife as if she was going to use it to hurt or stab her boyfriend," police said.
Rumph faces a charge of misdemeanour domestic battery. She was released from jail after posting a USD 250 bond.
