Vaishnodevi pilgrim attempts suicide, injured

A 75-year-old man today allegedly jumped into a gorge in a bid to commit suicide at the Vaishnodevi shrine in Reasi district here, police said.
A man jumped from the stairs on the way to the rasyan cave in an attempt to commit suicide at the main bhawan this evening, a senior police officer said.
Police swung into action and rescued him from the bushes in the gorge. He has been shifted to the dispensary at the bhawan, he said, adding investigation is on to ascertain why he took the extreme step.
The mas has been identified as Lalu Parshad, hailing from Ismailganj area of Allahabad, UP, the officer said.
