Varshith rallies to enter round two of U-14 tennis tournament

Varshith Kumar Marreddy edged out Arnav Oruganti 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 to enter round two of the boys singles at the MSLTA KPIT Arun Wakankar Memorial ATF Asian under 14 Series Tennis Tournament today.
In two other close matches, sixth seeded Manuel Josh of Great Britain came back from loss of first set to get past Vineeth Mutyala 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, while Samar Malhotra of India got the better of Eshan Degamwar of Ireland 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.
In other matches, second seed Krishang Raghuvanshi survived a fighting wildcard Aditya Iyer 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 to make it to round two, and Pune boy and Under 12 national champion Manas Dhamne moved into the second round with ease, accounting for Sudhanshu Sawant 6-0, 6-2.
Local girl Ruma Gaikaiwari, who was rewarded with a wildcard for finishing No.1 in Pune district, outplayed another wildcard Tamanna Saini 6-1, 6-2 to enter the second round in the girls' section.
