"The policy provides for a transparent mechanism for leasing and licensing of land in possession of major ports. The policy guidelines are expected to give significant fillip to major ports and help them attract more business," an official statement said.
The Minister today visited the Kandla Port in Kutch district of Gujarat.
These policy guidelines are part of the series of reform measures initiated by the Shipping Ministry to promote investment and efficiency in operations in the major ports, the release said.
The Minister asked KPT to take administrative steps to implement recently approved proposal for 'Conversion of Gandhidham Township Land (Residential and Composite Zones) from leasehold to freehold.
