"The board of directors of Vedanta Limited today has approved the appointment of Anuradha Dutt as an additional independent director," the company said in a filing to BSE.
It added, "Consequent to the appointment of Dutt, the board of the company will comprise eight directors consisting of four independent directors (including two women directors) and four whole-time directors, with Navin Agarwal as the Executive Chairman."
Dutt, an LLM from Columbia University, US, had been Vodafone's counsel in its Rs 20,000-crore tax battle with the government.
"The rich experience of Dutt will bring diversity of thought, experience, knowledge and perspective and will help the board in discharging its responsibility and meeting the expectations of the stakeholders," Vedanta said.
