The experimental farming is aimed at studying the outcomes and scope of vennamei shrimp culture in the State. "Since the fish farmers in the State have expressed their concern over vennamei shrimp culture, it is necessary to study its impact, before launching the practice in Kerala," the minister said.
Denying allegations that nothing is being done for inland aquaculture in the State, K Babu said the 'Malsya Samrudhi' project initiated by Fisheries Department has helped increase the fish production in inland water bodies.
Vice Chancellor, Dr B Madhusoodana Kurup, who presided, said KUFOS would set up industry incubation centres and start-up villages in collaboration with industrial bodies to inspire entrepreneurial initiative among students.
"KUFOS has plans to start an industry incubation centre in Marine Biotechnology with the support of Kerala Life Science Park of State Industrial Development Corporation. An Industrial Advisory Board also will be formulated at the varsity", he said.
