Misra breathed his last late last night at Lohia hospital in Lucknow from where his body was brought here this morning and taken to Tilak Bhawan, the Congress office, where leaders and supporters of all political parties and people from different walks of life paid floral tributes.
Misra, who was the president of the Congress district unit continuously since 1999, is survived by a son and three daughters.
A resident of Sultanpur Kheda village under Sataon development block, Misra's last rites were performed at Dalmau ghat in the presence of Congress president and Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi's representative Kishori Lal Sharma.
She paid floral tributes to Misra at the party office and met his son Prahlad and other members of the family. She recalled the services rendered by Misra to the party and how he used to guide Congress workers during election times, party sources said.
