Journalist-turned-director Vinod Kapri says he feels grateful that eminent personalities from Bollywood are praising him even before the release of his debut movie "Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho".
The upcoming film is a political satire running along a perilous love-story based in Tanakpur, a village in Haryana.
"A few years ago I read a story of a High Court sentencing a boy for allegedly raping a buffalo. I investigated the story, found it interesting and eventually started writing a film," Kapri told PTI.
Kapri says the film may be based on a real-life story, but he has used some dose of fiction and humour in the story, which is a comment on the society.
Kapri said "PK" director Rajkumar Hirani's compliments and suggestions inspired him to become a filmmaker.
"Few years ago I made a documentary on Anna Hazare which was praised by Hirani. My conversations with him helped me achieve my objectives towards filmmaking," he said.
During his school and college days, Kapri used to write a lot of stories, which even got published. But in his 22 years of journalistic career, he says he only got the opportunity to pen one story.
The theatrical trailer of "Miss Tankapur Haazir Ho" was released on May 21 and was given a thumbs up by Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Hirani and Subhash Kapoor, who took to Twitter to praise it.
The film, which stars Annu Kapoor, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Sanjay Mishra, Om Puri, Ravi Kissen among others, is being distributed by Fox Star Studios and will release on June 26.
