Vinod upsets top seed Nikshep to enter final

Ninth seed Vasisht Vinod Cheruku of Karnataka upset his state-mate and top seed B R Nikshep 6-2, 6-1 to enter the final of the Adidas MCC National Junior Tennis Championship here today.
Vasisht now plays Nitin Kumar Sinha of Bengal in the final tomorrow. Nitin defeated local lad Manish, a qualifier, 6-0, 6-0.
In the girls section, ninth seed R Abinikka kept the Tamil Nadu flag flying as she got the better of Sathwika Sama of Andhra Pradesh in straight sets.
Abinikka played a powerful game and won the first set 6-2. In the second, Sathwika Sama put up a determined resistance to make it 5-all before Abinikka won the set 7-5 to pocket the match.
In the second semifinals, fourth seed Zeel Desai defeated Ramya Natarajan in straight sets.

Girls Singles Semifinals: Abinikka R (TN) bt Sathwika Sama (AP) 6-2,7-5; Zeel Desai (Guj) bt Ramya Natarajan (TN) 6-3, 6-1.
Boys Doubles final match: Cheruku Vasisht (Karna)/Dev S D Prajwal (Del) bt Nenwani Anurag (Del)/Venkata Gnana Bhaskar(AP) 6-2, 6-2.
Girls Doubles finals match: Vanshika Sawhney (Del)/Ramya Natarajan (TN) bt Nandini Sharma (Chd)/R Sai Avanthika (TN) 6-2, 6-2.
