The Governor, who is also chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), conducted aerial reconnaissance of Pahalgam-Panjtarni route and visited Sheshnag Yatra Camp to review security arrangements of the annual pilgrimage slated to begin on July 2, an official spokesperson said.
Accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of SASB, P K Tripathi, Vohra also reviewed establishment of hospital, shelter sheds, langars, tents, shops, pre-fabricated huts, toilets and baths, he said.
The Governor directed concerned departments particularly Pahalgam Development Authority to speed up ongoing works to ensure completion of Chandanwari-Pissu Top-Sheshnag-Mahagunus Top-Poshpatri-Panjtarni track by June 28 to ensure that all arrangements can be put in place in time.
Vohra had discussions with Commanding Officer of 10 Mahar Regiment Colonel Mahendra Pal Singh Mourya and senior officers of state police, CRPF, BSF and leader of the Avalanche Rescue Team about arrangements to be made on the tracks during the 58-day long yatra, the spokesperson said.
