German auto major Volkswagen today said its second state-of-the-art regional Part Distribution Centre (PDC) at Bangalore will be functional by the second quarter of 2015.
The centre, for which the ground-breaking ceremony took place in Bangalore today, aims at expanding further Volkswagen Group's after-sales and spare parts infrastructure in the country, a release said here.
The new PDC is a part of three depot network strategy under the 'depot network development project' and will strengthen the after-sales network in the southern region of India, Volkswagen said in the release.
One such centre, set up in 2012, is already functional in Gurgaon.
The Bangalore centre will help improve timely delivery of genuine parts to authorised service stations of Volkswagen Group India brands, it said.
The Volkswagen Group is present in the country through five brands: Audi, Lamborghini, Porsche, Skoda and Volkswagen.
"With its strategic location, the PDC in Bangalore will significantly contribute towards reduction of the current lead time needed to provide genuine parts to dealers and service centres," Volkswagen Groups Sales India Director for group Service Berndt A Buchmann said.
The southern region is important for Volkswagen Group India as it accounts for more than 30 per cent of parts sales in these markets, Buchmann said.
The addition of the new centre, a strategically important investment for Volkswagen Group, will further strengthen the efficiency of its after sales and spare parts distribution and the service quality of the dealers and customers, he said.
"With delivery of genuine parts within 24 hours to Volkswagen Group India brands' dealer network in the southern region, the company aim to focus on driving higher customer satisfaction," he added.
The upcoming facility in Bangalore will distribute to the dealers network for all available models sold by the five brands, the release said.
