Titled "The Song Of Scorpions" the movie has French- Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani and Irrfan playing the lead roles.
Set in the Thar desert of Rajasthan, the story revolves around a woman stung by a scorpion, who hopes a shamanic singer can heal her with a special song.
The filmmaker will start the seven-week long shoot later this month.
Saskia Vischer, Shahaf Peled, Michel Merkt and Thierry Lenouvel are producing the Switzerland-France co-production.
Rakesh Mehra of Kriti Productions is on board as the Indian co-producer.
