Waqf Council Act: Minority affairs min panel holds meeting

The consultative committee of the Union Minority Affairs Ministry met here to discuss the functioning of Central Waqf Council and Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2013, and the challenges in its "effective" implementation.
The meeting here last evening was chaired by Union Minority Affairs Minister Najma Heptulla.
A presentation was made during the meeting for the panel members, who also gave their suggestions for the effective implementation of the Act.
"Heptulla briefed the committee on measures being taken to address the issues cited by its members.
"Thanking the members for their valuable suggestions, she assured them that their suggestions would be considered and all possible efforts made for their implementation," the ministry said in a statement.
The meeting was attended by Lok Sabha members Anwar Raajhaa, Maulana Asraul Haque Mohammad, ET Mohammed Basheer and their Rajya Sabha counterparts Ali Anwar Ansari and Joy Abraham.
