It was not SD Burman's tune but Waheeda Rehman's performance which made Lata Mangeshkar like the song "Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai" from romantic classic "Guide", the melody queen has revealed.
The song, featuring Rehman and Dev Anand, is counted as one of Mangeshkar and the actress' best songs.
The singer made the confession while wishing Rehman a happy 78th birthday last evening.
"Greetings. It is Waheeda Rehman ji's birthday today. All my best wishes for her. Today, I want to tell you all something related to her.
"When Burman dada (SD Burman) made us listen to this popular song in 'Guide', 'Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna Hai', Dev Aanand sahab did not like the tune at all and even I was not very happy with it, but director Vijay Anand ji's work and Waheeda ji's beautiful acting forced us to change our opinion," Mangeshkar tweeted.
