The segregation of waste into biodegradable and recyclable was started in six colonies- Pushpanjali, New Rajender Naga, Shakti Nagar, Vivekanand Puri, Municipal Quarters and Indira Colony under the of NDMC, said North Delhi mayor Preety Agarwal.
"A campaign has already been launched to encourage residents to dispose the garbage in separate bins by putting biodegradable portion in green and recyclable in blue bins," she said.
East Delhi mayor Neema Bhagat said segregation of waste at source has been started at Dilshad Garden, Pocket-A, MIG Flats, Dilshad Garden,Pocket-B, and Jhilmil, DDA Flats, colonies under the EDMC.
"This will make garbage disposal more organized and properly managed by reducing the load of waste dumped on the sanitary landfill sites, Bhagat said.
