In her reply, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati said that the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) has carried out water quality analysis in the NCR to assess the level of pollution.
"Samples from 14 locations out of 40 in Uttar Pradesh, 5 locations out of 15 in Delhi and 19 locations out of 28 in Haryana exhibited values of parameters beyond permissible limits," she said.
To address the problem of pollution in river Yamuna, the minister said, the Centre has been supplementing the efforts of the state governments in various pollution abatement works by providing financial assistance to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana under Yamuna Action Plan since 1993 in a phased manner.
Apart from 'Namami Gange' programme and ongoing assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), assistance will also be availed from other agencies like the World Bank, she added.
