Rather the process has been deferred in the absense of infrastructure facilities in many colleges, Chatterjee said accusing a "section of the media" of spreading misinformation.
"A section of the media has launched a campaign against the state government on the issue serving wrong information to the people," Chatterjee charged.
The colleges having proper infrastructure for online admissions have already started the process, he said.
Stating there would not be any counselling centrally and it would be only at the college level, the minister said "manipulation or interference in the admission process will not be allowed in any way.
A 'Help Desk' would be set up at the office of the Ministry of Education from June 9 to assist the students for their admission, Chatterjee said adding there would also be a 'suggestion box' in his office for public feedback.
