: A delegation of Telangana BJP leaders would meet President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on May 7 and 8 and raise the issue of the alleged goof-up in the declaration of results of intermediate examinations in the state.
Announcing this to reporters here Sunday, senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatraya said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government has been trying to hush up the alleged failure of the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) and has dared not to blacklist the private firm which handled the exam results.
Moreover, Dattatraya said education minister G Jagadeeshwar Reddy has not been sacked over the alleged fiasco and accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of trying to save all those involved in the alleged bungling of the results.
About 9.74 lakh students had appeared for the exam in March this year and 3.28 lakh of them had failed, according to official sources.
The BJP has claimed that over 25 students killed themselves since the declaration of results on April 18.
The alleged bungling by BIE in the announcement of results led to widespread protests by students, their parents, students organisations and political parties.
Some students claimed they secured poor marks despite being meritorious.
"Telangana BJP president K Laxman had taken up five-day long indefinite fast seeking justice for the intermediate students, but the government has not responded," Dattatraya said.
He sought to know as to why the Chief Minister was going back on initiating action against those who committed the alleged goof-up.
Dattatraya further said the BJP's struggle seeking justice for the students would intensify.
"A total of 26 students has committed suicide, but the state government has not taken the matter seriously. Hence, we have decided to take forward the issue with the central government," he said.
A memorandum would also be submitted to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)seeking necessary action in this regard, Dattatraya said.
He said the partys agitation would continue to press for its demands including sacking of the education minister, suspension of BIE secretary and other officials, judicial inquiry into the whole episode and paying compensation to families of students who allegedly committed suicide.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the opposition parties in the state - Congress, CPI and TJS - would stage a protest here over the exam results issue on May 11.
