Match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the fines after West Indies were ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the 31-over match last night, after time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, and in particular the regulations contained therein governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount, an ICC statement said.
The offence is contrary to Article 2.5.1 of the Code. The penalty was accepted by West Indies without contest so there was no need for a hearing.
South Africa pipped West Indies for the second semifinal berth from Group B on better net run rate after last night's rain-curtailed match between the rwo sides ended in a tie under the Duckworth/Lewis method.
India are the other side from Group B to have already qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing Champions Trophy.
