Wheat arrivals in Haryana cross 53 lakh tonne mark

Wheat arrivals in Haryana has reached 53.24 lakh metric tonne, of which 53.22 metric tonnes of crop has been procured by government procuring agencies.
Despite heavy crop damage because of untimely rains and hailstorm, Haryana is looking to purchase 65 lakh tonne of wheat for central pool in the ongoing rabi marketing season.
Over 22.68 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been purchased by Hafed, whereas Food and Supplies Department had purchased 16.25 lakh metric tonnes, an official spokesman of Haryana Food and Supplies department said in a statement.
The Haryana Agro Industries Corporation purchased 5.64 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 8.59 lakh metric tonnes, Confed 5,800 metric tonnes and private dealers bought 1867 metric tonnes of wheat.
He said so far district Sirsa was leading in wheat arrival where over 6.99 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, followed by district Karnal, where over 5.90 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis.
