Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij here on Thursday said he had sought details about pending FIRs in all districts and action would be initiated against police officers for the delay in investigation.

Talking to reporters, the minister said he got hundreds of complaints every day from the public, most of which pertained to the Police Department.

"Whatever case is coming to my notice, I am acting on it. On an average, I get 500-600 complaints daily, most of which pertain to the Police Department," Vij said while interacting with the media here.

Vij said information about the number of pending complaints with their time period had been sought from all districts as many people had met him, saying no action had been taken on their FIRs even after two years.

"In every complaint, on what count action has been delayed, I am writing to the officers concerned to get this enquired. On receipt of the report, strict action will be taken against the employees or officers concerned after examining the reasons for the delay in investigation," he said.

He said information related to any complaint could be given to him personally by people.

"People are free to approach me with their grievances. I have fixed Saturday and Sunday for anyone who wants to meet me in Ambala Cantt and on Tuesday and Wednesday, they can meet me in the Secretariat at Chandigarh," the minister, who is a six-time MLA from Ambala Cantt, said.

Replying to a question on the CID, Vij said, "We will carry out a review of this department. For any government, the CID is like its eyes and ears. We will pay special attention to this department."
When asked there were reports that one part of the CID department reported to him while the other one to the chief Mminister, Vij asserted, "The CID is an integral part of the Home Department."
