Former India opener and DDCA vice president Chetan Chauhan today said that the association will appeal to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for "re-assessment of entertainment tax" of Rs 24 crore levied by Delhi government.
The DDCA is in danger of losing the final Test match against South Africa between December 2-6 to Pune if they don't comply to state government's norms of payment of entertainment tax.
Chauhan claimed that tax department has levied entertainment tax from the period of 2008 to 2012 during which they were "granted exemption".
"We don't agree with the amount as this is an exorbitant amount levied on us. We had been exempted from entertainment tax during that period and now we see that those exemption years have also been included," Chauhan told PTI today.
"Hopefully we will get CM's appointment in the next couple of days. I had personally met Deputy CM Manish Sisodia three days back and he told me that we have to seek CM's appointment," Chauhan added.
Chauhan also said that DDCA will send the balance sheet of the last financial year (2014-15) within end of this week to BCCI.
