Jwala, who has been recommended a life ban by the BAI disciplinary committee, got a reprieve today when the Delhi High Court accepted her plea and allowed her to participate in upcoming tournaments till the three-member committee takes a final decision on the issue of her alleged indiscipline.
"We honour the court's decision. We have already requested the BWF (Badminton World Federation) to consider Jwala's entry. It is up to them to decide now," BAI general secretary Vijai Sinha told PTI.
Jwala, who had won the bronze medal in 2011 World Championship in London and the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold along with partner Ashwini Ponnappa, is unlikely to be able to participate in the Denmark Open as the BAI had withdrawn her entry from the event yesterday.
However, now it will be up to the BWF to decide whether to accept Jwala's entry for Denmark Open after it was already withdrawn.
Delhi Smashers led by icon player Jwala had threatened to pull out of the match over the last minute replacement of injured singles player Hu Yun of Hong Kong with Denmark's Jan O Jorgensen, a higher ranked shuttler.
The BAI demanded an "unconditional apology" from the feisty shuttler to reconsider her case.
