The Gujarat government is ready to offer land for construction of Army schools in villages near the Indo-Pakistan border if there is a formal proposal, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said today.

Addressing a gathering of BSF jawans and locals at Bheliya bet near Bhuj in Kutch district, Rupani said his government was committed to address the needs of the jawans deployed along the Indo-Pak border in the state.

The chief minister laid the foundation stone for a Hanuman temple to be built by the Swaminarayan Sansthan.

He said the issues of potable water and mobile network connectivity, among others, being faced by BSF jawans in the area will be addressed by the state government soon.

"The chief minister had resolved the issue of mobile network problem faced by BSF Jawans deployed at Nadabet in the district last year. The CM promised that the issue of potable water, road connectivity and mobile network connectivity at Beliya bet will also be resolved," an official release said.

The CM also announced an assistance package of Rs 15 lakh for the families of those killed in two recent accidents in Kutch district.

BSF Inspector General Ajaykumar Tomar said that 3 lakh people visited the border in Banaskantha district under the state government's "Seema Darshan" programme which was launched by the chief minister a year-and-half ago.
