An elderly woman allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at central Delhi's Chandni Chowk metro station today.
The incident took place in the afternoon, following which the woman was rushed to a hospital, where she had to undergo surgery and the entire portion below the knee of her left leg had to be amputated, a senior police officer said.
The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. When CCTV grabs were checked, the woman was last spotted standing on the platform apparently waiting for a train towards HUDA city centre on the Yellow Line, the officer said.
