Roba, hailing from West Bengal, allegedly hanged herself in the presence of her two children, aged one and five, at their residence in Nivedita Kunj near R K Puram area early today. She had asked the elder son to inform her husband once she died, a senior police officer said.
The boy watched his mother die and then called up his father Sonu, at work at a petrol pump, who immediately rushed back home and informed the police at 6.30 am, he said.
The officer also said that the five-year-old boy was taken into confidence by cops and he narrated the entire incident which "left even us shocked".
Although no suicide note was recovered from the spot, police has found no reason to suspect the child's statement.
"We are still investigating the case and the husband is being questioned," the officer said, adding that the body has been moved for post mortem.
