Woman held for kidnapping step-children in southwest Delhi

A woman allegedly kidnapped her husband's two children from his first marriage to win his affection, the police said today.

The incident was reported from southwest Delhi's Vasant Vihar, they added.

The police were informed yesterday around 2.25 pm by one Sonia that her two-year-old daughter and five-year-old son have been kidnapped.

Later, she received a call from Reena, her husband's second wife, they added.

"Reena asked Sonia to abandon her husband or else she would not return her children. On the basis of the number Reena had used to call Sonia, she was traced to Uttam Nagar and arrested," a senior police officer said.

The two children were reunited with their mother.

"Two Kidnapped Children, a 5 yr old boy, a 2 yr old Girl rescued. Reunited with Mother. Kidnapper arrested. Prompt and Professional work by team of PS Vasant Vihar. @DelhiPolice," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya tweeted.
