The accused, identified as Ambika Vasishta, wife of a serving army officer, allegedly mowed down three women labourers yesterday in while she was driving in Khadki cantonment area, a police official said, adding she had fled the spot after the incident.
One of the three victims, Nanda Pardeshi (50) succumbed to injuries, while Sulochana Pardeshi and Shakuntala Kanchi sustained grievous injuries, inspector of Khadki Police Station, Suhas Bhosale said.
"Some eye witnesses at the accident spot had noted down the registration number of the car and on the basis of it, the car and the woman were traced today," he said.
