The woman school principal, who had levelled charges of sexual exploitation against Panna Collector R K Mishra, which led to his transfer from the district, has retracted her allegations and urged the authorities not to take any further action against him.
"In an affidavit submitted before the Kotwali Police station on Sunday, the woman has retracted her allegations and urged not to take any action against Mishra," Panna District Superintendent of Police (SP), I P Arjaria said here today.
However, taking cognisance of the woman's complaint, the police had registered a case under sections 376 (rape) and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Mishra.
"The matter is under investigation and appropriate action will be taken in this regard after a probe," Arjaria said.
Although Mishra had termed the allegations as "baseless," the state government went on to transfer him to Bhopal. However, when contracted, he refused to comment over the latest development in this regard.
On February 28, the Principal had attempted suicide by consuming some poisonous substance alleging that she had been sexually exploited by Mishra.
In her statement to the media in the district hospital, the woman alleged that the Collector had called her to his residence and sexually exploited her.
