The woman, aged around 20 years, was found yesterday from the canal when the water was drained from it for some construction work, they said.
The identity of the victim could not be established, they said.
It has been sent for postmortem, they said, adding that an investigation is underway in this connection.
The canal is being drained since October 20 for a month for the construction work.
An abandoned motorcycle was also recovered at some distance from the spot, they said.
