Youth shot dead over land dispute in UP

A 20-year-old youth was shot dead allegedly by four persons over a land-related dispute in Lahchora village under Jaithera Kotwali here, police said today.
The victim, identified as Ghanshyam Singh, was on his way to his agriculture field yesterday when the accused - Bhoop Singh, Yogesh, Ravi and Raghuraj - shot him, they said, adding that Ghanshyam died on the spot.
Old enmity and dispute over land is stated to be the motive behind the murder, they said.
While the family members and locals alleged that they had approached Jaithera police four days ago when Ghanshyam was beaten up by the accused, but no action was taken against them.

The SSP Vaibhav Krishna, who reached the spot, ordered an inquiry in this connection and said that action would be taken on the basis of probe against guilty officials, including the Inspector of the Kotwali.
