"About 30 women would be given golden awards and another 30 women silver awards as a token of recognition for their exemplary work and to encourage them to help more women farmers in their regions and motivate others to come forward and take leadership roles," city-headquartered ICRISAT said in a release.
Besides Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, women agriculturists from the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jharkhand are likely to attend the event.
ICRISAT believes that it is important to recognise the role of women in agriculture so that they can be an important engine of growth and poverty reduction, the release said.
ICRISAT regularly conducts Farmers Days to share new technologies, best practices and information about improved varieties to benefit the farmers, it added.
